]]>This might be a big surprise, but flamingos are actually born with grey or white feathers. Their feathers turn pink over time thanks to the food they consume. They eat food like shrimp, plankton, and algae, which all have the pigment carotene, the same one featured in tomatoes and carrots.
You might have noticed that flamingos have long legs. But did you know that their legs can be more than 4 feet long? This is usually longer than their entire body.
Unlike most other birds, flamingos lay their eggs in nests made out of mud. Both mom and dad take their parenthood duties seriously, building the nest and incubating the egg as a team.
Flamingos like to spend time around their species. The group or a flock of flamingos is called flamboyance and can count anywhere from a few dozen birds to million flamingos.
There are six species of flamingo and you can find at least one of the species in most parts of the world. In the wild, they can be found in Europe, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Africa, and the Middle East. American flamingo naturally inhabits North America, but they donāt breed there.

]]>Addie was prematurely born and abandoned by its mother shortly after. The mother would kick the baby horse and didn’t want to have anything with it. Even the veterinarian couldn’t do anything to create a bond between the two, and it seemed like there was nothing anyone could do to save the foal.
At that point, Catherine decided to step in and take Addie. She brought it to her home, fed the baby horse, took care of it, and did everything to help it survive.
Catherine’s effort paid off as Addie grew up to be an energetic mini horse who quickly made friends with the family’s dogs. It also developed a habit of running around the house and chewing everything in its sight.
“Our house is definitely not made for a horse so we have moved our kitchen island out of the kitchen it’s pretty much destroyed now anyway she’s chewed most of it,” Catherine told The Dodo in a recent chat.
Now, Addie has become strong enough to be able to be outdoors and take care of itself. Catherine found it a new home on a farm but regularly visits the horse and shares their adventures on social media.

Koalas are the only animals aside from humans and primates that have fingerprints. Additionally, their fingerprints, just like ours, are unique.
Thanks to their Eucalyptus leaves-rich diet, koalas get plenty of hydration and rarely drink water. This is what prompted Aboriginal Australians to give them the name ākoalaā, which translates to āno drinkā or āno waterā.
Koalas are living a dream life. Their main activities are eating and sleeping. When they are not snacking, they usually take a nap, and sometimes, they can sleep for 18 hours in a single day.
Koalas donāt enjoy the company of other animals or members of their own kind. They prefer to live a lonely life once they become adults, although they will tolerate other koalas in their vicinity during mating season.
