]]>Yeadon is a self-taught textile artist from Yorkshire, who’s been sewing tirelessly since 2018. She mastered many different techniques in the meantime, from embroidery and beading to needle felting, and she’s using them all when crafting her unique textile sculptures.
She describes her creations as a testament to my enduring love for wildlife, inspired by her profound connection to nature.
“Drawing on my love of animals, my work aims to unveil the often-overlooked intricacies of nature, fostering in onlookers a newfound reverence for the creatures we cohabit this planet with,” she writes on her official website.
Yeadon uses a combination of fabrics, faux fur, threads, clay, and wool to bring her textile sculptures to life. We’ve seen her pay homage to many different animals since the start of her creative journey, but insects are definitely her favorites. From delicate moths and industrious bees, she enjoys celebrating these overlooked creatures through her art, and her replicas look just as amazing as their real-life contra parts.

]]>The Bird Singalong Project was launched by researchers at Leiden University in the Netherlands, as a part of their efforts to explore parrots’ musicality. Their ability to mimic human speech made them an obvious target for this study, which explores animal cognition and the evolution of language.
“We aim to investigate how well parrots recognize and imitate melodies, and, especially, how flexible they are. We invite bird owners to participate in our World-Wide Bird Singalong Project to discover the musical skills of parrots and other songbirds,” reads the description on Leiden University’s official website.
The team of researchers behind the Bird Singalong Project is trying to figure out if musicality is a uniquely human capacity or something they share with other living creatures. Since parrots are great at imitating sounds and can sing along to all kinds of tunes, they became a subject of this study, which gained thousands of Instagram followers after researchers started posting videos of singing parrots online in an attempt to promote their study.

]]>The cat’s tree-climbing adventure for the “purr-fect panorama” was recently detailed in a post on X (former Twitter) by Grand Canyon National Park Service. The post included a photo of the feline, who draped itself on one of the branches and patiently waited to be rescued.
“A huge shoutout to our firefighters and first responders who sprang into action today to rescue a furry adventurer from the heights of a tree at Grand Canyon,” Grand Canyon National Park Service wrote in the X post while asking social media users to help them locate the cat’s owners.

It didn’t take long for the cat’s owners to be located. It turned out that the cat, named Archie, made a run from the nearby residential area in hopes of enjoying the beauty of the Grand Canyon himself.
Archie was reunited with its owners the same day, and his family is happy that his reckless actions didn’t have serious consequences. We hope that Archie will learn his lesson and will think twice the next time he tries something similar.

]]>In a recent video shared on TikTok, one dog owner decided to share the three stages of owning a Golden Retriever based on her dog Charlie.
The first stage is “a cute tiny potato” phase, during which your goldie’s cuteness will negate all of its naughty behavior. As Charlie’s owner puts it, “they get away with a murder” in this stage.
The next phase is “oh no, what have we done.” During this stage, the Golden Retrievers maintain their puppy behavior but are “10x bigger, so they are 10x a greater wrecking ball”.. Additionally, they don’t sleep as much during the day as they used to, so they are constantly doing mischievous things.
Finally, the third stage is “wish he was still a puppy”. This is when Golden Retrievers calm down and are not interested in constantly running around the house. According to Charlie’s owner, at this point, you’ll start missing all the chaos.
“Only giving glimpses of stage 3… still very much in stage 2,” shared Charlie’s owner in the caption of the video that got 3.9 million views.

The German Sheppard tries to catch the bee with his mouth a number of times, but each time, the insect manages to escape. Eventually, the bee decides it’s not worth it and flies away while the pupper continues to look around in order to make sure he did his job successfully.
@Ring The video received one million views since being a week ago, with TikTok users praising the dog for his actions. Some users also shared stories about how their German Shepherds also have beef with bees.

“Our Bengals try to escape the garden after we put up the “unescapable fence rollers”… or so we thought,” @bengal.adventures wrote in the caption of the video that got 32 million views.
TikTok users were quite impressed with the determination of cats and the way they figured out how to beat the fence rollers.
“That’s right, but they never attack the same place twice. They were testing the fences for weaknesses, systematically. They remember,” one TikToker concluded.
A lot of TikTokers also recommended the cat owner to build a “catio” in their yard. Catio is an outdoor enclosure that allows felines to enjoy the outdoors but removes the danger of them escaping.

]]>Tak Hau used to be a successful wedding dress designer but decided to pursue a different passion when the wedding market completely unraveled in the face of the global pandemic in 2020. He was always a fan of entomology and enjoyed framed artwork featuring butterflies and beetles, so he decided to explore this passion further.
Insectism was born after he learned how to set and mount delicate butterflies, and started experimenting with using insects in his artwork.
“My style is a bit outside the box, perhaps rendering something that would make you do a double-take, evoke a fantasy, or stimulate the imagination. I often like creating something that is both beautiful and thought-provoking,” he explains on his Etsy page.
Hau is now on the quest to spark imagination and provoke a conversation through his art, while also using it to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment by always using ethically collected insects in his art.

]]>In a video shared on Instagram by animal activist Chitra Basarkar, a dog can be seen sitting in front of a keyboard while surrounded by a cymbal, a drum, and a horn.
The canine first hits the cymbal to get the rhythm going before moving to the keyboards and adding some horn sounds to his performance, all while hitting the drum with his tail.
“Only dog lovers will appreciate this amazing musician,” Basarkar wrote in the caption of the video.
It turned out that a lot of folks appreciated the dog’s performance. The video received 833K likes, while Instagram users rushed to the comments section to share their appreciation for the talented musician.
“Its my favourite music aritist from now on,” one person wrote.
“He’s adorable and very talented!,” another added.
It isn’t surprising that this dog is so good at playing multiple instruments. A number of studies have shown that dogs enjoy music and listening to it improves their mood and relieves their stress.
