England National Team Adopts Stray Cat They Befriended at 2022 World Cup

The England national team returned home from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with a special guest. During their time at the tournament, the England players befriended a stray cat and decided to adopt it.

Defenders Kyle Walker and John Stones were the ones who got most attached to the feline. Dave the cat somehow found his way to their camp and ended up staying there the whole time.

“I don’t know, the first day we got there, we’ve got like a little table around the corner. The next minute, Dave pops out. Then every night he’s there, sat, waiting for his food,” shared Stones in an interview posted on his Instagram page @johnstonesofficial.

Initially, the England players made a promise they would adopt Dave if they won the World Cup trophy. But Dave captured their heart in such a manner that they decided to take him regardless.

“He was just there one day, so we’ve just adopted him, me and Stonesy,” Walker said.

Walker later posted a photo of himself shouting at Stones alongside the caption: “Having to tell @johnstonesofficial he can’t take Dave the cat home with him.”

Dave landed in England shortly after the players and was taken to a veterinary clinic. There he had his tests done and got all the necessary vaccines. The cat will now have to spend four months in quarantine before Walker (or Stones) are allowed to officially take him home.
