Dog Not Guilty

What a controversy! Several months ago the story made headlines when Johnny Depp and his wife Amber Heard had tried to bring their pets into Australia illegally.

The couple own two dogs Pistol and Boo who are both terriers. When the couple was entering through customs on a trip down under, an official noticed they did not have the right documentation for their pets and apprehended the couple.

After a lengthy legal battle Heard is charged with two counts of illegal importation and production of a false document. There was a brief hearing at Southport Magistrates’ Court in Australia on Monday, after which the couple’s lawyers have stated they will fight the charges.

Australia takes animal importation very seriously. If charged Heard could face a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail and a $79,067 fine.
