When you first think of polar bears, you imagine frightening animals that hunt seals in the ice, and splash in freezing water.
When David de Meulles got the chance to film a live polar bear, he took it at once. He got his camera working, kept a safe distance, and waited for that perfect shot. Suddenly, he saw a nearby dog chained to a pole, and feared the worst. He couldn’t free the dog from his chain, in fear that that polar bear would spot him and get angry.
de Meulles kept his distance, fearing the worst, but then, something quite magical happened. Instead of a cruel meeting between the two animals, they started to play together, with the polar bear actually petting the friendly dog.
