US Air Force Soldier Comforts His Dog Until His Last Breath

A commendable soldier, Kyle Smith, was a part of the United States Air Force, as well as his dog, Bodza.

Bodza, an 11- year old German Shepherd, worked as an explosives detector and has worked side by side with Smith for many years. Bodza has detected bombs in Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, and Kuwait, and as a result, he saved many human lives.

There is no denying that Bodza was a hero, so when he was diagnosed with an incurable disease called degenerative myelopathy, Smith took it upon himself to stay with Bodza until his last breath. He knew the poor dog was suffering and decided to end Bodza’s suffering.  Even several of Smiths co-workers were there to support him in his time of need.

The two were inseparable. Bodza would follow Smith around everywhere he went. The two were constantly learning from each other. Smith even when to state that Bodza taught him a lot about patience, selflessness, and that his job was greater than himself.

The canine died wrapped in the beautiful American flag to show gratitude for all he has done for the country.
