Watch: Final Emotional Tribute To The Last Known 9/11 Rescue Dog

Meet Bretagne, the last surviving search dog that participated in the 9/11 recovery efforts in 2001. According to the Texas Task Force 1, Bretagne started working with the search and rescue team when she was just 8 weeks old.

When the 9/11 attacks took place, Bretagne and her handler Denis Corliss did everything they could to help save lives. The two worked around the clock for days in ground zero, walking on steel beams and piles of rubble, in hopes of finding survivors. Sadly, there were no survivors for them to rescue.

This Monday, after 16 years with the force, Bretagne made her last walk to the animal hospital, where she was laid to rest, after a long fight with cancer.

The local search and rescue officers did not let Bretagne long career go unnoticed, and they held a special tribute to her, while she entered the hospital.
